FR: uh quand j’ai revenu d’ottawa j’essayais de perfectionner mon français pi dans famille y trouvaient toute ça drôle que j’essayais de parler un p’tit peu mieux fait que / yea non non définitivement tu peux même trouver des personnes qui comme vient de québec / j’ai retourné à ma vieille manière. t’as cessé un peu / um c’tait comme je pouvais switcher un switch d’aller en penser, compter pui parler en anglais aller de penser, compter et parler en français. so je pouvais changer / et même si à la maison quand moi j’étais petite que je n’ai pas parlé français trop avec mes parents et tout ça. je pense que maintenant que je veux vraiment parler français avec mes enfants parce que je trouve que c’est vraiment important et je trouve que c’est plus accepté maintenant et c’est plutôt vu comme quelque chose de bon / j’peux pas dire que ça aurait été mieux juste en français ou juste en anglais parce que c’est une partie de moi même / si tu devais parler un langue unique dans ma région, c’est l’anglais / où la dame disait bein oui, j'étais à windsor pi tout le monde parle avec cet même accent, c’est pas qu’ils sont anglophones c’est juste c’est leur accent. okay. pi moi j’suis comme oui finalement quelqu’un me comprends, c’est pas que je suis anglophone nécessairement c’est juste c’est l’accent qu’on a, pi / la langue est plus une nécessité que n’importe quoi d’autre, faut que tu communiques avec les personnes / et ils bougent icite et c’est, je travaille dans un hardware store, il y a des personnes qui rentrent dans le store qui parlent français, je sais qu’ils parlent en français! mais si je dis bonjour, ils dit hello and then ils essaient de parler en anglais avec moi même si c’est un problème pour eux de parler en anglais, ils veut pas avoir cette conversation, je sais pas si c’est juste comme practice ou quoi. um, mais je sais que à belle-rivière et pointe-aux-roches il y a des personnes qui  / (plusieurs voix) / c’est plutôt uh… c’est plutôt... comme je dis un cadeau, you know, une surprise.

EN: uh when i returned from ottawa i was trying to perfect my french and then my family found it funny that i was trying to speak a bit better so / yea no no definitely you can even find people who come from quebec / i went back to my old ways. you stopped a little / um it was like i could switch a switch to go from thinking, counting, and speaking in english to thinking, counting, and speaking in french. so i could change / and even if at home when i was little i didn’t speak french much with my parents and all that. i think that now i really want to speak french with my kids because i find it’s really important and i find that it’s more accepted nowadays and it’s more seen as a good thing / i can’t say whether it would have been better just in french or just in
english because it’s a part of myself / if you had to speak a single language in my region, it’s english / where the lady said why yes, i was in windsor and everyone speaks with the same accent, it’s not that they’re anglophones it’s just it’s their accent. okay. and i’m like yes finally someone understands me, it’s not that i’m anglophone necessarily it’s just it’s the accent that we have, and / the language is more of a necessity than anything else, you need to communicate with other people / and they move here and it’s, i work in a hardware store, people come into the store who speak french, i know they speak french! but if i say bonjour, they say hello and then they try to speak to me in english even if it’s hard for them to speak in english, they don’t want to have this conversation, i don’t know if it’s just like practice or what. um, but i know that in belle-river and stony-point there are people who / (many people’s voices) / it’s more uh… it’s more… like i say a gift, you know, a surprise.
